Wednesday Roundup: What’s In My Bag?

Happy Wednesday! Hoping that everyone is recovered from Labor Day Weekend.

Today, I’m going to share what I carry with me on a daily basis; all the stuff I really couldn’t live without!

First things first, The Bag: I use a Vineyard Vines Classic Tote (the UConn edition, of course!) to hold all of my stuff when I’m going to work, out running errands, or heading to the beach. It’s the perfect size, has great pockets, and a zipper up top to keep everything from spilling out! When Evan and I went to Newport, I kept all of the things below plus a change of clothes and some souvenirs in the bag!

Technology: I keep my phone, its charger, and my headphones in one of the side pockets of the bag for easy access! Next to them, I keep a large external charger for my phone. I bought the that particular model to keep literal days of charging power with me at all times. I always have problems with my phone staying charged, so this way I’ll never be caught with a dead battery in case of emergency!

Cosmetics/Skincare: I swear by my Vera Bradley makeup bag to keep all of my goopy, powdery, sticky, glittery makeup contained, protected, and far away from my bag interiors–mine has lasted me for years. I have the medium size, which is big enough for full foundation bottles but still small enough to throw into a tote! In it, I keep one bottle of Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation in Light Porcelain (shoutout to my fellow fair girls), Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Natural Origin Fakeout Mascara, Physician’s Formula Eye Definer Felt Tip Eye Marker in Ultra Black (shoutout to my fellow gals with sensitive eyes), NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown, two flavors of Disney Lip Smacker (Perfect Pear and Ch-ear-ful Cherry), Colourpop Pressed Powder Shadow in Hear Me Out (which I use as under-eye concealer, shadow base, highlight, etc), Colourpop Super Shock Highlighter in Flexitarian (literally my favorite highlight EVER) and Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Get Lucky (no longer available) for those emergency times you need a gold eye shadow. I’m also never without a tin of Zum Rub for my eczema, which you can read more about here! Phew, yeah I keep all of that in one makeup bag.

Life Preparedness (AKA: I’m A Walking Pharmacy): I’m the kind of person who keeps a Tide To Go, Benadryl, Advil, Kleenex, deodorant, extra napkins, two pens, cough drops, antibacterial wipes, sunglasses, and a sewing kit in their purse just in case. You may laugh now, but the next time you’re caught without Band-aids while you’re out and about, you’ll understand. (Personally, I carry a mix of colors, Frozen, and Star Wars Band-aids). Remember how much I love sun protection? I carry around both a facial and a body sunscreen in my bag! I struggle with pretty severe asthma, so I keep both my steroid inhaler and my rescue inhaler in a side pocket so I can quickly grab them if I need to. I’ve recently been getting into incorporating essential oils into my daily routine, so I’ve also got a bottle of doTERRA Deep Blue Touch to help with the aches and pains of sitting in front of my computer at work all day!

My Wallet: I started using a Vera Bradley wristlet in high school (like every other girl born in the mid-90s in Connecticut, ahem) and found it to be the perfect way to keep all of my cards and cash safe. I’m using a way older (vintage?) model of their current wristlets, which now hold our giants phones and keep RFID scanners away from our cards–who knew wallet technology was the way of the future? The most exciting thing I have in there right now is probably a pocket-sized map of Boston’s T that was included in one of my college acceptance packets. You would not believe how often it comes in handy!

My Keys: I am weirdly sentimental about key rings, and I’ve held onto my ever-so-cheesy Eiffel Tower one since visiting Toulouse and Paris in my junior year of high school. Now I’ve got everything kept together on my UConn lanyard to help keep my keys in easy reach!

A Book: No good purse is complete without one. I’m currently reading Maxie McCoy’s new book, You’re Not Lost!
